Bobby=4187866 You are an insensitive ass to say what you did. This Lady brought happiness to so many over the years and was the gold standard of voices for almost 20 years running. That being said, what have you done that is worth mentioning other than show everyone on the blog what and absolute jerk you can be. Get a life and get in to the good habit of not saying anything if you have nothing good to say!!! I hope that when you drop dead someone as stupid as you comes off with some choice remarks about what a boring life you lived and why no one should care.

A fantastic talent who was smiled upon by fame and fortune after coming down a long celebrated road of musical heritage and linage and then traveling the lonly and dead end road of drugs and loss. May she finally rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

I will never understand how people with the gifts of talent, fame, and fortune need drugs to boot. I can understand some people using drugs or alcohol to escape the sad reality of their lives once in awhile, but what do people with incredible talent, fame, and vast fortunes have to escape, what a sad waste of a God given talent and all the potential for good that accompanies such a gift.

Forrest Grump 2.0 - I used to have the same sentiments you have. What I have observed over the years is that if you look at the lives of the most successful people, they are in part successful because they are overcompensating for low self-esteem.

The most successful people usually have the most emotional issues to overcome. Drugs and alcohol help to "numb" the pain and anxiety of living their daily lives. Fame and fortune do not fill the void of not feeling loved or worthy.

Forrest Gump - To answer your question, it is the demands and pressure that comes with all that fame that they try to escape. I am in no way condoning or approving of drug use, I am just trying to point out that being rich and famous has it's drawbacks like anything else. Imagine never knowing if someone really likes you and wants to be a friend or is just looking for something from you. Imagine never knowing who you can trust. Sometimes you can't even trust family. Imagine the constant pressure to be perfect all the time and keep up the image that has been created around you.

It is sad that someone with such a wonderful gift fell prey to drugs and died at such a young age. I think that her marriage to Bobby Brown was the beginning of her downfall. I am sure that the stress in their marriage was at least partly responsible for her drug use. Instead of being the one person she could relax around, he became just one more source of stress in her life. Unfortunately she turned to drugs to deal with that stress. If only she had someone she could turn to instead of turning to the drugs.

This is a great loss to music, although the loss really occurred years ago when the drugs destroyed her voice and her life. There was always a hope that she could get back on track and contribute to music in other ways besides singing. Unfortunately, that chance is now gone as well.

RIP

It IS sad, and a waste of talent and life. However, it is most likely a consequence of a life lived not respecting ones body. Even if, and lets give her the benefit of the doubt, she wasn't currently using, all that abuse damaged her body. It's a lesson to teach our kids, especially daughters. The "bad boys" aren't always misunderstood, sometimes they are just bad for you.

Catalyst it seems that the success and fame would validate them and quell the question of them not measuring up in some way, especially when the talent is as enormous as it was in the case of Whitney. I have attained a moderate level of success and a good reputation in my chosen field (fame if you will) now it is nothing remotely in the order of a movie star but my point is I think I was able to achieve that because if anything I had an inordinate amount of self esteem and did not want to tarnish that by failure to achieve less than what I expected of myself. I don't understand how they don't feel loved when millions of people love them and are in awe of what they can do. There must be something to what you say because there sure are a lot of rich and famous people that kill themselves with drugs and alcohol. If I was that rich and famous I might kill myself with thick steaks and cheesecakes.

Forrest Gump, I think sometimes that level of fame and success is very isolating, which only further makes things difficult. In a way, it's hard for them to know who their true friends are; it would be almost impossible to have a romantic relationship.

JS in SD everybody has pressure how about the pressure of feeding, clothing and educating 4 kids, on a modest income, we all have to perform to some-body's satisfaction, and deal with people that only want something from us. I don't feel as bad for the people with the pressure of fame as I do young people trying to raise a family in this economy and present day lack of respect and incredibly low wages for workers. Hell they can not afford the luxury of drugs to escape the harsh reality of life if they are so inclined. It is not like she was financially trapped in a bad marriage these people have all the means to help themselves if they so desire. I'm sure fame and fortune has it's own unique challenges but I find it hard to feel sorry for those who let the pinnacle of success ruin them, I have a hard time understanding how being a big winner can turn anybody into a self destructive loser. It happens a lot, I just don't understand it.

Forrest Gump, you say, "I can understand some people using drugs or alcohol to escape the sad reality of their lives once in awhile". While using drugs and alcholol once in a while might be manageable by some people, others have a true physical addiction that is based on their biochemical makeup. All the fame and fortune cannot change this. This doesn't excuse the life long destructiveness some people have with drugs, but if you're not predisposed to that physical addiction you will never know what it is like.

Guess they already knew they would need paramedics there..rich and famous people parties.

A hotel like that in Beverly Hills Ca. would of course have security cameras watching every room and who goes in and out..hello... Beverly Hills PD.

As I've said many times, there are rarely simple answers for anything, as much as we would like for there to be. I seriously doubt there was one reason for Ms. Houston's drug use-it was likely much more complicated. Drugs, alcohol, and many other things can be used as numbing behaviors to help a person cope with various stresses, upsets, agonies, and other things in life. Sometimes people who do not turn to drugs or alcohol for numbing may feel superior to those who do, but they may be using something else as their personal numbing behavior-such as food, shopping, TV, gaming, starving, reading, computer, even excessive religion (by "religion" I mean the outward observation of various rules or dogma). Probably all of us use numbing behaviors to some degree, and some are more destructive than others. The problem is when a numbing behavior becomes maladaptive.

Forest, I've learned that no one can really comment on what another person is experiencing as far as pain or pressure is concerned unless they have been in that person's shoes. It's easy to play the "I've suffered more than you" game, but it's not a valid game. There is no way to measure someone else's suffering and compare it to your own. Besides, how much do you REALLY know about Ms. Houston's life?

My condolences to Ms. Houston's family and loved ones.

This should make a powerful TV ad about not using drugs.

Hope that d*bag Bobbie Brown is proud of himself. He destroyed one amazing talent by introducing her to drugs and abusing her the way he did. I hope someone (besides Brown) takes good care of Whitney's daughter.

I know she did not have a child with terminal cancer, I know she did not have a teenager killed in a car accident, I know she did not have a son killed or maimed in Iraq.

I am not comparing her suffering to mine personally, I have been relatively lucky in this life, however I know people personally who have suffered much more from things they had no control over than her suffrage from a marriage to Bobby Brown, or managing the stress of incredible success. Yes I am sad for her, but yes I will make that comparison, go to the cancer unit, look at the brave little kids getting their treatments look at their broken hearted parents and then wonder how they get through it. I sure as hell would be ashamed to discuss the difficultly of dealing with fame and fortune with them.

This is absolutely TRAGIC News...

Whitney Houston was truly a songbird. She was one of a small number of music artists that could sing in 8 octaves. Unlike so many recording artists, Whitney Houston did not need a computer to "sing" for her. She was physically beautiful, divinely musically gifted, spirited and she brought astounding joy to so many of her fans.

Whitney Houston's death is a major Loss to the world of music.

She truly was one of a kind in a field that has become too cluttered...

Rest in peace, angel...you are now in God's hands...

No she did not have an 8 octave range, in her prime she could span 5 octaves, which is truly incredible, I don't think there has ever been a singer with an 8 octave range, most musical instruments have much less than an 8 octave range. She could sing with power and clarity seemingly effortlessly across 3 octaves. Her gift, her talent was truly astounding.

Our most talented singers and musicians are being eaten up by illegal or prescription Drugs; actors and actresses, as well.

What has happened? during the last 20 years?--Everything is in excess---for them---too much money, no direction, and crooks who could care less about their welfare, taking care of them--including doctors who are too willing to be their caretakers by giving them illegal anesthesia in their homes/thousands of pills going from dr. to dr. getting the drugs they crave.

This plague has to STOP--it will affect our own children, by their example of lifestyle.

Why isn't there Someone in the Industry who represents the ills of drugs, alcohol, and "whip-its" (Demi Moore), the last being Michael Jackson, and Anna Nicole Smith. All the Rappers who have died..

It is the money that these Beverly Hills doctors want; not caring about the Hippocratic Oath they took entering this Profession.

I will miss Whitney Houston and her music so much---she was gorgeous, a large talent. Her family must be so sad. Dionne Warwick is her Aunt--my condolences to the Houston family, and to the daughter she left behind.

This did not have to happen---out of control, with too much money, out of control lives, i.e. Gary Busey bankrupt. What do they do with their money that flows so freely---

Miss you Whitney---You were a songbird. RIP.

Forest Grump 2.0., why do you even have to ask the question as to why someone or anyone with her level of fame should need to resort to drugs? If you do, then you must not have any capacity for empathy or, adopting a different perspective. There are hundreds of possible reasons. If you can never understand them then, you must be exceptionally narrow minded. But, I doubt if you are. Of what I have not doubt is, that you are being arrogant and judgemental. What you are saying is, look at me, I am tough. I would never resort to drugs if I were in her position.

I'm trying to figure out how all of these actors (think Demi in recent news), Sheen, and Whitney get their drugs. I can't imagine they just drive around a bad neighborhood...I know they have money and can get what they want but the dealers to the stars need to be brought down. There is something more sleazy about that drug dealer then the guy on the corner selling to random folks who come to them. Is there some type of underground delivery system? Who's running the drugs? Clearly other people (bodyguards, housekeepers) are involved and aware - and are just as guilty as the drug dealer. Just think the dealers need to be brought down soon. RIP Whitney - I grew up listening to you and adore your music.

@Where, Imagine if you will, A Place trapped in Time, Where people like Tony Montana actually exsist. They make millions of dollars each year, and live in 5 million dollar homes. If we were serious about stopping Drugs (instead of the occasional 55 kilos that makes the police / or the coast guard look good) thats a drop in the bucket of what is actually available coming across the borders, in the ports, on the planes, in the boxes. Unless we somehow decide to AGENT ORANGE every poppy, cocaine, or other fields that produce these products, It's not really a problem, as the dirty money from these operations pays for dynasties, presidency, and dictators elaborate lifestyles.

It will remain PARTY CANDY for the Fabulously Rich and Famous. (John Belushi, Sam Kinison 1, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson *, Jim Morrison, Dana Plato, River Phoenix, Judy Garland, Britany Murphy, Corey Haim, Sid Viscious, Marilyn Monroe * Amy Winehouse 3 and so many more)

1:Kinison was "in Recovery" when he was struck and killed by a Drunk Driver Ironically

*Mystery and Conspiracy surround their deaths, one stated suicide, one stated murder, both with drugs they shouldn't have been able to acquire legally.

3. Alcohol Related

I have not yet seen any reports from the Cause of death yet on WhitneyI would guess, since she was in Hollywood for the Grammy's, It was a mixture of alcohol and drugs. RIP Whitney, wish her surviving family well during this time. She had a great and powerful voice.

Mr. R:

It has been said, via TV discussions tonight, the real truth of her death will never be told. She is considered a VIP Public person.

There will be a cover-up of the truth--Doctors, Coroners, Police tend to give these Music Stars and Actresses "dignity" as to why they died. They have special privileges; a changed named on a bottle of drugs/going from one dr. to the other; assuming fake names, etc, when obtaining their killer mixtures, or accidents. The average citizen cannot do this--.

This is a once again an eye-opener. There are more of these drug deaths, since public communication has become world wide, thus the computer age. Many years ago, it was not as contagious a disease, of one star, dying after another in such short periods of time.

There will be more--every one is a Shock.

Forrest Grump; if you look at the history of drugs, you will see that drugs help open ones mind, not remove it from reality. Anything not done in moderation can kill you, and, when was the last time a narrow mind ever helped someone?

Through out history there always had to be a first, who knows how many had to die before they learned what was okay for you and what wasn't. When it comes to drugs; if you approach doing them with a closed angry mind - you will have a bad experience. It is better to teach others the reality of drugs than to use scare tactics. Some cultures that taught the use of drugs the right way, learned what drugs were okay and how much to use to get a nice buzz. Cultures who teach drugs the wrong way, never learn what moderation is.

Trying to get as high as you can is proof that those using the drug/booze got bad advice from mis-informed people. The more you conceal - the less you learn....this dumbing down cycle needs to end.

Talent, fame and fortune are no guarantee to happiness. Why is it hard to understand that one can still get depressed, sad, or lonely even though one has all the money and fame in the world? In fact, having money and fame can tend to isolate a person even more. Whitney was just a person like anyone else, and as such, had the same flaws, pain, and insecurities we all experience.

Not long ago, she got busted at the Kona airport in Hawaii with a half ounce of pakalolo in her carry-on, but because of her "STAR" status, she was let onto the plane and allowed to leave.

Actually this story is not surprising at all and anyone that acts surprised hasn't paid attention to her downfall since 1986, when she made her last hit album. A God given talent which was given to her and she chose drugs and booze instead. The only one I feel sorry for in this whole situation is her daughter. A daughter who had to grow up and endure the pain of living with an addict and watch them throw their lives away. A daughter who probably spent most of her childhood clean up after her mom. I hope Whitney does RIP, but she made the choice (over her daughter) to walk down the dark ugly road.

What we KNOW is that Whitney Houston had an incredible voice. We KNOW that she used it to provide us with some incredible music.

What we do not know is what was inside of her. Success and fame can be too much for some people. We have seen it repeatedly in the world of entertainment. The names of those gone too soon are legion. I suspect that once you have achieved a certain level of greatness, any slip off can be devestating. I remember reading something about Elvis being concerned because he was just singing the same old songs that he always sung and people were still coming out to see him. But, he did not feel that he was the same guy. He felt that something was wrong.

When entertainers try to live up to their own unrealistic expectations or those of the public, it is often too much. The reality is that they live in an unreal world. How many of us go to work and get a standing ovation at the end of each days performance? If you notice, the ones that stay grounded just dont seem to get as caught up in the hype.

Bottom line-we are all human, no matter how much talent we have. As such, we are subject to the human condition which is one of imperfection.

So, Whitney shoul be lokked at for who she was-an incredible talent and a human being.

She was a talented lady, who will be missed by her family and the world. She, like so many other talented people, found herself surrounded with the WRONG people. Celebrities can't really live normal lives, because of their fame, end up living surrounded by their inner circle who too often will do anything to maintain their place, even feed them a diet of alcohol/drugs. Haven't we lost enough talented people this way?

        #1.75 - Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:42 AM EST

She was one of my main idols. I have sung "I will Always Love You" in many contests and was able to walk away with top prizes every time. I, too, have a huge vocal range, which is why I could sing that song in the first place. My heart is so heavy right now. I watched the Oprah interview and knew then that she was not off of drugs. Bobby Brown, may you rot in hell! I know ultimately it was her choice to pick up the pipe, snort the line, etc., but I cannot help but wonder what if she had never met him.......I hope her daughter will not follow in their footsteps. May you finally rest in peace, sweet songbird. You were one of a kind, and a true gift from God, if I ever heard one.

Forrest Gump - To answer your question, it is the demands and pressure that comes with all that fame that they try to escape.

I agree, JS. When a singer/ actor/ athlete gets to the level Whitney reached, the thrill of hard-won success, the demands on their time and the pressure to top their last CD or performance can be an emotional roller coaster. The people around them, managers and hangers-on, even family and friends, become dependent on their career success and sometimes push them beyond their limits. They lose their anonymity and can't live a normal life anymore.

Then out come the drugs, to provide energy, to lull them to sleep, to provide escape from the pressure. Sadly, the celebs have doctors who are more than willing to give them anything and everything they want. Michael Jackson comes to mind here.

I'm very sorry for Whitney Houston and all her family and friends. I doubt her death will make even a dent in the drug culture that celebs are prey to. I also doubt any teenager who's thinking about doing drugs will be scared off by her death.

I'm a saxophone player that actually played with Whitney Houston, she toured right after The Bodyguard and she was so good to the band, theirs families, to my children, she took to my daughter and let her into her dressing room before the show and my daughter cherishes her autograph.

She was a great person, that eventually, unfortunately had personal setbacks that eventually turned into personal tragedy. It was a blessing to have known her, she was truly a wonderful person, an incredible talented artist, with a warm, loving, open heart.

Whitney, we will 'Always Love You' Rest in peace little angel and now you are with God and in peace.

Your point is valid, Forrest Grump. No matter how much admiration for her talent and/or sympathy for her difficulties one might have, Whitney Houston did not cope with her challenges in such a way as to inspire others with her courage. Her weakness killed her in the end. Her life and death should be a cautionary tale to those who might wish to have her fame, talent and fortune.

It should be clear that happiness does not result from becoming rich and famous.

I for one, am more shocked that Lindsay Lohan is still alive, then Whitney being dead. I have seen video of her from the past few days, and even thought to myself that she was going to die very soon. She just had that look. Sad that she left her child without a mother. Personally, I have no love for anyone who chooses being a scumbag over raising their children properly, whether they are addicts, are manipulative, choose a partner over their children, etc. My hope is that her daughter gets far, far away from her father. Take a passage from Frances Bean, Bobbi, and run far, far away, as fast as you can.

Iran is trying to start a war with Israel. Canada is becoming best buddies with China.

          Forrest,

During Whitney Houston's prime, it was stated more than once, that she was able to sing in 8 octaves.

Another well-known female artist is known to sing in 5 Octaves.

Whitney's voice range was clearly superior to the female artist that can sing in the 5 voice range.

With the astounding talent that Whitney Houston had, it is not unfathomable that her voice glazed 8 Octaves.

I am sympathetic to anyone who is in pain, real or imagined. It is a part of the human condition and comparing the types, levels and depths of pain is meaningless. You can only know the pain that a person is in if you are that person. There is a reason that so many young stars end their lives tragically. While it might seem logical to discount their pain as that of overindulged and misdirected people, it is pain nevertheless.

Just as we should not diminish another's greatness to enhance our own, so should we not diminish another's pain to make ours greater. Each pain exists within its own right.

godbassistThe love she speaded in music will over shadow any of her shortfalls. Even your stupid comment clb-462357

What's exactly stupid about the comment? That her daughter probably didn't have a childhood because that's what happens when you live with an addict. That I grieve for her daughter and not Whitney? Hell, Whitney was an adult and had choices, her daughter was a child and didn't.

Shortfall!!!! Are you kidding me?! She was an addict for YEARS!!! She was arrested on several occassion. At one time Child Services thought about taking their child away because the situation was so bad. She married a loser. She hasn't had a hit single for over TWO DECADES!!! That means two generations have no idea who she is. And looks like she was also broke, happens when you're an addict. Oh I loved her music, own all her 80's albums and yes she achieved quite a bit in the few years she was on top and she had a gorgeous voice and she'll go into the Hall of Fame & should. But short falls, no, she royally screwed up her life and her daughter's life up.

But what's stupid is people sit on this board acting as if they are so surprised, worst yet making excuses for her behavior, "oh I'll miss her music"... when she hasn't had a hit since the late 80's. How can you miss something that isn't there. Here hit singles will play long after she's been gone, just as those that went before her.

Or the excuse "stardom got to her", IMO, the greatest female singer of all time was not Whitney, but was and is Barbara Streisand, who by the way, didn't in any way go down the road as a drug addict. And many other women who's voices are unbelievable, Celine Dion comes to mind also, and she also did not go down that road. There are two many other women for our daughters to look up to who didn't take the wrong fork in the road.

Forrest, During Whitney Houston's prime, it was stated more than once, that she was able to sing in 8 octaves. Another well-known female artist is known to sing in 5 Octaves.

Actual Forrest is correct and those that state Whitney had an 8 octave or sang continually in a 5 Octave are incorrect and probablly have little knowledge on what an octave actually is. Octaves are arranged C D E F G A B and then C’. There are 8 octaves on the piano and to count octaves you start with the lowest note and count to the same note in the next octave until you get the range. Now in order for Whitney to sing all eight octaves she’d have to be able to sing several notes lower than what any man can which is impossible even for someone with her range. Whitney has a 3 octave range (C3 to C6–she did C6 on How Will I Know) which is lower than both Mariah and Aguilera.

A singer’s true range is measured by the number of notes they can actually SING–not necessarily HIT and Whitney has never ever been an Octave 8, nor has any woman singer or could they even do it.

I stand by my earlier comment. You don't know someone else's pain unless you have actually been in their shoes. Everyone experiences pain differently. Some people have naturally higher pain tolerances than others-we all know that. That does not mean that the other person is not legitimately feeling more pain. It's all in a person's makeup. It's easy to feel superior, but one can never know how one would react in a given situation unless one is actually there. Additionally, many here seem to think they know everything there is to know about Ms. Houston's life-however, I can assure you that all you know about her is her public image and/or what the media wanted you to know, even the bits about her drug use. Not a single one of you knows what went on in her private life when she was all alone and/or when the cameras were turned off-nor do you really know about her life before she became a big star. In other words, you don't know enough about her to comment on what kind of pain she might have been in. Losing a child is not the only thing that can cause emotional trauma.

The grieving was appropriate many years ago. She's been gone for a long time. She insisted upon her right to her attitude and her drug use. She paid the price for both.

I'm sorry for her family. I deal with an alcoholic every day. This is not a tragedy. If she was living straight and became fatally ill, that would be a tragedy. This was inevitable. Did you see the video from her disastrous cancelled tour in Europe? Sad and disgusting at the same time.

So many die due to drugs. Michael Jackson was constantly on drugs. He had a personal Dr. to junk him up. All the entertainment people that has died for NO reason. Way too many to even list here. I guess no brain no gain.

@Doug in Reno, It is something we all can wish for, The Odds of her lifestyle are against it tho, and it looks as the coroner will not be quick to release the information (so that the GRAMMY's can promote her LEGEND) and then let the wind blow whicever way after its over.

Chris Benoit of WWE Fame was treated the same way, the first Episode of RAW after his death, where no one knew the truth yet, they dedicated to him, THEN Blackballed him after when they found out it was Murder Suicide. Hollywood probably won't treat Whitney the same, but I suspect she will fade into the back of the Rock n Roll tradgedies on VH1.

it's because they have inner demons that were around long before their careers ... insecurities, pain .. things we don't know and may not want to know. addicts become addicts because it numbs them and they don't have to FEEL anything. they don't have to face the feelings. so sad.

Drug addiction has no bounds. Just because you have money and fame doesn't make you immune or more susceptible. It is within the person to be an addict as much as it is not to be. Personal accountability is what it boils down to.

Not black enough? Not white enough? Come on people who project such aweful sentiments! Wasted? Drugs? Why would enough people torment such a beautiful, sensitive and talented artist to ANY extent?

Not fair. Not right. Not good. Please watch your words of judgment and espoecially for the sake of public humiliation in the future. Did doing so help you feel powerful? Did your words and comments no matter where you allowed them to be manifested help to heal your own wounds by creating wounds within another?

Many have their own internal demons to contend with and do not need the weight of external hatred to top it off. Do you feel you belong? I hope and pray you do. Please, please, please do not behave in ways that strip others literallly from that sense. God bless you and keep each and every one of you. Foregiveness is there for the asking for those of you with whom my statements resonate.

Rest in God's loving arms Whitney.

I can imagine that it can be tough having your entire life laid out in front of millions of people. I'm not excusing it by any means, but I can see how people who have problems beforehand would be pushed by living in the public's eye.

Rich people are not the only ones that do drugs. The devil doesn't care if we are rich are not. He just doesn't want people to know that God has our back, and that we win. Don't blame Bobby, he may be fighting the same battle Whitney tried to win. Drugs can have a stronghold. God is able to break it for him and anyone else who needs it. He needs prayer.

Whitney is gone. I feel most sorry for her kids, who are left with Bobby Brown to "care" for them.

I remember the first interview I saw with her. I saw her as an talented, intelligent, articulate, savy person. As soon as she opened her mouth I was deeply disappointed. Nothing I thought she was, and no class to boot. "Crack is wack?" Come on.

I get tired of people making excuses about how tough these celebrities have it. The pressure, the attention, the MONEY. Their unhappiness with the very success they sought. We should all be so stressed.

Drugs are a choice. A weakness. If I described to you how my life went since childhood, you would be very glad to be you. Yet I NEVER did drugs. I don't even drink. Drugs and booze are copouts. How could such a powerful woman that any man would love to be with end up with Bobby Brown to influence her life? People with low self worth are aware of it: I know because I suffered with it for years. All her money and she couldn't get help (therapy) for it?

Like I said, I feel for her poor kids: I have little sympathy for people who have everything they have always wanted and CHOOSE to self destruct. It IS a choice, people. A choice.

Oh Yeah? I tried it a few times twenty years ago and then I put it down. A lot of people try cocaine, have some fun and don't make it an obsession. 1% of users give the drug a bad name. I like to do some every New Years Eve. I eat healthy, exercise, and pay my bills with a sweet pension.

You CAN NOT be serious with making this type of comment! Whitney Houston is and will always be an icon for many. Just like any other individual in the world, She experienced some tough times. How tough? WE will NEVER know. The only comments that should be made are condolences or some type of respect to the family. Whitney Houston has a daughter who she loved very much. Whitney has a daughter who will grow up WITHOUT her mother. Making ignorant comments such as the one you made on this comment board just goes to show how well "IGNORANCE" is defined.

What happen to the human society? What did Whitney do bad to the society? Nothing. She was the super star. Young and old at her times would never forget her. Why do we lose our rationality and dare to ridicule the dead who did nothing harm to us? If at all Whitney did wrong, it was on herself. Whitney Super star, May God place your soul at His side.

Hey tecara, she did a LOT of cocaine. Guess what, cocaine kills heart cells on contact. Cocaine users eventually have heart attacks.

Wanna bet the cause of death is heart attack? Or overdose?

As for that happening to me? Not gonna happen. I have never smoked a cigarette before, much less cocaine.

                                              That stuff kills ya know!

Anyone with as much talent as Houston that squanders it as she did should be pitied, but also made to be an example of what excess can breed.

@ Really?-1739510...what is your point? Let me guess..hmmm...your dream was to be an investigative reporter for MSNBC, but you failed to get the job because you only reported news that most 6 year olds already know. Have you ever considered that some people that use drugs may use them to numb the cold, cruel and demeaning actions and words from people like you? Comments such as yours serve no universal good. WHAT IS YOUR POINT?? A child lost her mother?? Yet, you want to provide her with research that you learned at your 5th grade DARE rally?!! What is wrong with people like you?? Are you that lonely and miserable? When things like this occur it ROCKS me!! The fact that she used drugs to escape anything, hurts me. For people to feel that un-loved?? I don't get that either, but I refuse to degrade them or take on some superior role, as if all of my choices in life are deserving of a Gold medal! Pray that when God judges you that HE has more compassion for you then what you are exhibiting for Whitney. Yuck..you people are really annoying. As for examples, I allow my children to read comments such as yours in an effort to show them how NOT to contribute to a post that is announcing a persons death. Why are you all so programmed?? This is not a darn "Say no to Drugs" campaign!! As for as Whitney, she was not pitiful so deserves to pity. She was a human being, a child of God...and yes, she sinned...who hasn't?? You never smoked a cigarette..point?? People die with lung disease all the time and even they boasted of a healthy lifestyle. I bet you really thought that your comment was gonna have us buckling to our knees in amazement with how swift you are. RIP Whitney...I pray that God forgives you of your sins and welcomes you back home. Selah

Who are you that I even yearn to seek respect from? The wicked always run to share in the shedding of more blood and to assist in being a yoke to others. You can miss me with your pathetic attempt at reverse psychology. The fact that you even are co-signing these degrading and cruel comments speak to your lack of compassion and consideration for your fellow man. You lonely and miserable people need to form a "I don't have anything better to do so I will speak evil of the dead" committee and attempt to convince each other of how great you are, as I am not, nor will I ever, be convinced.

@SeLah relax before you burst a blood vessel. There are very few disparaging remarks here, they are opinions based on Whitney's lifestyle, both as a Great Singer/perfomer, and her downfall through drugs, abuse, and lost hope. Yes there are a few jerks making one or two comments, but since you don't want to be psychologically entwined amongst the opinions of people who are appearing here in MASS Honor of Whitney, I guess you should remember, based on your blog name,

... "Let the Dead bury their own dead, Pick up your cross and follow me, " so that the rest of us can help those who are alive still(IN CHRIST) so that we may stop creating a society that creates such rampant self-destruction through addiction, and suicide. It not only takes our superstars, but there are rooms filled across the nation with those who fight their demons, while locked away in hospitals, where their own families don't come to visit. Mothers, Fathers, brothers, sisters, forgotten, alone, while we abhor actions like the WBC ie. (Westboro Baptist Church), we act no different by leaving the least of these to suffer alone, without hope and without faith in thier own families (mankind) let alone, the Faith in the CREATOR.

Since "SeLah" believes that speaking the truth is speaking evil of someone, I guess she only lies about her true feelings about those in her life. Unicorns and rainbows may be her way of dealing with.the death of a total stranger, but not mine.

Whitney Houston had a drug problem. Drugs were found in her room.

                                                    Those are facts.

Don't want people to comment on your death? Then don't develop a drug habit and die in a hotel room with drugs.

People like "SeLah" make me laugh. Self righteous and indignant, yet oh so judgemental!

What makes you think think that she went to heaven? She was one really messed up person, and she had many chances to save herself, and obviously didn't. God commands us to take care of our bodies because they are Temples of God. She did everthing but take care of herself. If she couldn't do it for herself, she should have done it for the child she left behind.

What does it profit you to judge another? Should we give you a typing ovation for your borrowed and ill-informed opinion of who Whitney was? Why do we care what you think of the life she led? Will you cry for her as her daughter will tonight, you demented, wicked woman? How dare you use GOD as your authority to speak wickedly of someone? Moreover, the media has trashed her reputation enough, therefore, your un-solicited attempt to ridicule a soul that lost its way is a travesty that you WILL be reprimanded for when you meet the Creator! Go find something positive to do with your time. And for the love of GOD, if you can't find it in your empty soul to have compassion for the plight of your fellow brethren, then I suggest that you at least go seek pyschiatric help to deal with your issues! I am so sick of reading your heartless and cruel insults regarding someone that you have never met!!

I am soooo Glad that God is not like man!! Father, I pray that you have mercy on Whitney. I pray that you mend her brokeness and restore her back unto you. Love her, Comfort her, and remind her that she was always Loved...if not by this world, then by YOU...a love that surpasses the evil wiles and words of satan and his children. Selah

I agree with Mikes, we can comment on some issues but the issues that we should be discussing are swept under the rug. It makes me think of the poor girl in China recently that was talking about the working conditions in a Chinese factory that makes Iphones and Ipads for Apple. The conditions are terrible and she cannot talk to anybody around her and she cannot leave the compound where they work and have to live. They are not allowed to talk to the other sex, they are segregated, for fear of being fired and beaten. She was in fear of being beaten for what she told the reporter. It was shown once in the news on one station and then it has been forgotten. Apple sure has the power with what gets out in the news, just make sure if it isn't slanted towards Apple then let's just forget about it. But yet we still continue to buy "Made in China"! I try my best to stay away from anything made in China but there are too many that don't care, kind of like Apple!
