Judas Priest and James put on a ROCK concert, they could have played the entire show until the announcement in my opinion..

Yes, we watch this show. Either that or a pile of political pundits on either side with their political rant. We could use a break. By the way, I thought the finale was excellent. What a range of guests and musical styles. Nice to see Gaga, Beyonce, Gladys and Tom, Tony, Bono,Marc and Steve especially to perform. Nice ending IDOL!

They didn't say how many votes this week but the last vote a week ago was 95 million! So is anyone watching? That's your answer for the show that is ranked number 1. A TOP RATED show.

Scotty seems to be a nice young man with a great voice and stage presence. If he doesn't lose himself, he will be a hit with the right music & mgt.

Scotty said "we are going to stay together". Wonder if he and Lauren are having a thing? Wasn't that he smacking a ton of kisses on his chubby little cheeks? Seriously though, they both are country and would do well together. The Prince and Princess of Nashville.

Durbin and JP were great. And as much as I hate Haley's voice she sounded good with Tony Bennett. She could do the nursing home circuit in Vegas easily.

Tontosh - shut up. Just like politics, if you don't vote, you don't deserve an opinion. If you don't watch, then you lose your rights to comment.

Lauren has the crossover potential, just like Carrie Underewood. Scotty has no chance, except in country music.

So how long will it take before lady gag gag has sex on live TV. What a joke she is. She is a Madonna retread.

I thought that the show was good. The only thing that was not appropriate was Lady Gaga and her dancer pretending to be having sex. Not the right thing for little kids to be watching. Otherwise, I was actually pleased by the show. I wanted Laren to win, but Scotty is a good kid. They'll both go far in the music business. Did anyone else notice something going on between Scotty and Lauren, or was it my imagination?

Henry, have you ever heard of Kelly Clarkson ? Fantasia has won a Grammy and had a platinum album. Ruben has sold over 2 million albums, Jordin Sparks as well. David Cook has gone platinum and is starting a headlining tour. And Kris Allen has sold over a million downloads.

I hardly call these artist' careers "obscure".

tweetheart44, Yes, I did notice it as well.

As for Gaga and her simulated sex...I am not a prude but I do have grandchildren so knowing that their options for music videos is mostly soft porn does not thrill me! I really don't care for country music nor does anyone in my family but at least the women of country wear clothes and the men don't refer to women as bitches and worse.

Gaga is a remake of Madonna who had a so-so voice forcing her to sensationalize herself. How will Madge raise her sons to respect women when she put out that sex book? Not likely there will never be a copy for them to see. I could go on and on about this subject!

Women need to go back to wearing clothes and keep the sex acts in the bedroom. Stevie Nicks never stripped off and she did very well.

Popularity contest for children and pre-adolescents.

The winner was a one-trick pony that couldn't hit a high note if his gonads were in a vice.

The show has turned into a pandering embarrassment.

        #3.2 - Thu May 26, 2011 6:31 AM EDT

Tyler is geting old, so what? We ALL get old. He still kicks ass on stage. Not may 63 year olds can do what he's still doing. Tony Bennet can still sing and so can Tom. Do it till you just can't do it any more. Nothing wrong with that.

Scotty has the voice to become a great country star. So he only can sing country well, so what! He is good at it. I knew he could win this whole thing the minute he opened his mouth at the audition. His tone is incredable.

The finale was very good , especially James with JudasPriest. When casey and Jack Black sang together, I actually felt that Jack had a better voice. Casey is not as good as he thinks he is.

Yeah, Tyler is getting old... and he still showed James how screaming is SUPPOSED to be done. It's not just yelling, it's meant to fit into the song. And Tyler NAILED it!!

        #3.4 - Thu May 26, 2011 8:13 AM EDT

I was simply pointing out that Tyler (like Bennett and Jones) is aging and their voices show it. Tony Bennett was never much a mover on stage but Jones used to dance around and Tyler was known to swing from ropes above the audience. Last time he did that was probably 8 years ago (at least in a concert I was at).

I still like Naiama and Haley as the most diverse in their talents, but Scotty has a great future. Especially at his age.

There was a spoiler alert on the front page, and if you didn't want to know you wouldn't have been online where you were sure to see it. Just WHO do you think your fooling with your pretentious comment?

There is always someone who makes this comment not realizing how they come off to those smart enough to avoid news sources when they don't want the surprise or results to be spoiled. If you don't want to risk getting hit by a car while crossing the street then don't cross the street and you won't have anything to be worried about.

Don't you think some people might have been looking for actual news in their big headline and not who the big winner of American Idol was? There was not a spoiler on on my homepage but I'm glad you seem to know what's going on. Not pretentious to assume you know what everyone is world is experiencing at all.

If a relative of mine is hit by a falling car from a tornado should I also avoid the Internet in case news of it is broadcast and ruins the surprise for me?

            #9.2 - Thu May 26, 2011 1:39 AM EDT

Glen, first of all...if a relative was hit by a flying car from a tornado I WOULD CARE AT ALL who won American Idol. I guess you have different priorities than I do though.

Second, I'm not being pretentious about anything. THERE WAS a SPOILER ALERT banner in big bold text across the top of the single photo they had on the front page of MSNBC. The photo and headline in NO WAY indicated who won the show. The ONLY way you would know who won the show was to click on the link intentionally and even then the headline of the article only said something to the effect of "American Idol Crowns Season 10 Winner". That doesn't tell you anything unless you READ the article by choice. The webpage looked the same for EVERYONE so your argument is totally off base, but nice try...not.

Great choice! Scotty has more mass appeal, attracting those of us who aren't necessarily big fans of country music. He makes me want to listen, no matter what he sings. Lauren's lovely, and has a great voice, but most of her song choices didn't appeal to me -- too country. Not enough crossover.

              • 5 votes
              Reply#12 - Wed May 25, 2011 10:17 PM EDT

Let me get this straight. LAUREN was too country for you, but you loved SCOTTY? LAUREN didn't have enough 'cross over', but apparently SCOTTY can really change it up for you? Did you actually watch the show?? Scotty has got an amazing voice, but he can only sing country...the few times he tried a slightly different song, it still ended up sounding country. Old school country, too. No change up whatsoever.

I don't have a problem with Scotty, and I certainly don't have a problem with anyone's favorite...we are all different and have different tastes. But come on...your comment is a little hard to believe to anyone who actually watched the entire show...

Scotty definatley is a one trick pony. Country! Lauren has WAY more crossover potential and is more diverse. I was happy for Alfred E. Newman...I mean Scotty. He seems like a nice young man and I think he will do fine. Do you remember when Sheryl Crow was on? She said she wants to work with him asap. He will be fine. I am really excited to see what Lauren bring us!!

              Nikita-

I know our society likes to build public figures up just so we can tear them down, but these are 16 and 17 year old kids you're talking about. Is name calling really necessary? The fact that they've been able to maintain such humility and stay so grounded through this whole experience is an achievement in an of itself. Whatever you think of them, they just conquered the biggest signing competition in the country and i believe that deserves some recognition. My nephew is 14 years old and I couldn't imagine him doing anything like this. These are truly exceptional kids, and they deser4ve at the very least our civility.

Ok..just so we are on the same page:

              1. I never meant the comparison to be a negative one. It is what it is.
              2. The term "one trick pony" is not necessarily a demeaning one. Again it is what it is. Scotty is country. I never said it was a bad thing.
              3. You seriously need to re-read my post and lighten up a bit

Scotty will become as big as Carrie and Kelly in terms of being the Idol winner.  He's a throwback to the upcoming retro country phenomenon that is overtaking country music, more and more, every day.

His song will also be on middle-of-the-road radio stations by the beginning of next week.

America held a national referendum and traditional country from a mature 17 year old won hands down.

How he ended the show was the classiest of any victor.  Thanking every person who mattered to him.

Idol tonight truly created its next SUPERSTAR!!!!!

I disagree, he will have some success but he will not sell as many albums as Carrie Underwood because he doesn't have cross-over appeal. He sang the same song every week.

                  #18.1 - Wed May 25, 2011 11:40 PM EDT

George Straight , Clint Black, Randy Travis, Hank Williams, (should I continue?) , none of them had the cross over appeal and they all became country legends. You don't have to have cross over ability to make it big. Lots of singers have their nich, stay with it, and become stars, legends even. Scotty has the potential to become a big country star. So does lauren. I say good luck to both! Job well done.

The better singer of the two did not win. Perhaps that is because of multiple preteens voting for the boy. Disappointing, but I just hope I get to hear more of Alaina's voice is so sweet and pure, makes me feel so good when I hear it.

Nashville will be knocking on his door. Even his name sounds like a country singer. ha ha I'll probably purchase some of his music.

It was obvious last week, last night and tonight there is something going on between Scotty and Lauren, besides being competitors and friends. ;-)

I've chosen the last 4 winners, David Cook, Kris Allen and Lee Dewyze and now Scotty McQueery, I'm on a roll!

Wait....you've actually chosen the last four winners?? REALLY?? I hope you mean you picked who was going to win based on past voting, and not because you actually thought they deserved to win!

I'll be honest....I have actually only picked the first two winners, and I only stuck with Reuben Studdard in the end because that was who I chose to win when the final 10/11/12/13 were chosen. I truly believe Clay Aiken was more talented. I usually go strictly for musical voice, with a nod towards stage presence. Cuteness or sexuality doesn't enter into it, but especially lately, the winners have been all about being "cute" or "hot-looking", instead of talent and musical chops. This year, as far as talent goes, the clear winner was Pia Toscano. But, since it's mainly 'tweener girls who are voting and they are somehow threatened by someone who not only sings like an angel, but looks like one, too....Pia got out-voted. One of the biggest upsets in the history of the show! At least Adam Lambert (the most talented contestant EVER on AI) got to the final 2. Pia got voted out way too early!!

This show stopped being about talent long ago. Bring on X-Factor and hopefully they have a fairer system in place to keep the "tweener vote from being the only vote!!

                      LMAO....

I just noticed....you are praising Scotty for winning Season 10, and then you mis-spell his last name. I mean, I didn't think he should have won, but damn, calling him McQueery?? That's harsh!!

                      Priceless!!

Mar48 - There is nothing going on between Scotty and Lauren. They are very close friends, nothing more. They are not dating, they are not a couple, they are not even slightly romantically interested in each other.

"It was obvious there is something going on between Scotty and Lauren."

LOL! Don't make assumptions about things you know nothing about.
