The real shame is that the case was not made a class action suit

About time somebody stuck it to these creeps and leeches at Citi.  Too bad they weren't allowed to go "broke".  But we all know that was a joke..they're making more profit now than ever, after the "administration" bailed them out.....or rather gave them tons of our tax dollars because of a phony "about to fail" claim.

While Larry Hagman exactly doesn't qualify as a "little guy" -- it's nice to see at least ONE of the banks brought to heel a little.

Doubt Citi's learned a lesson though but CHEERS to Larry! I hope he picked some good charities (nice touch).

To bad the the individuals at City Group who committed fraud against Mr. Hagman were not banned from ever working in the securities industry, forced to return the bonuses they undoubtably earned from increasing Citi Group's overall profits as a result of their fraud, and finally join the Indiana financial advisor who deliberately crashed an airplane in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid being brought to justice for fraud and theft in the Federal prison system.

Hagman ruined his first liver with alcohol, then cheated (drank) with the second... it's likely that two other people died somewhere down the "list" because he received those transplants. It's a shame he got the money from Citi. Should have gone to someone else...down the "list."

10 mil is going to charities d i p s h i t. It wasn't about the money. It was about banking scumbag pigs ripping people off. We are all better off because he had the money to go after these a s s h o l e s.

@USSA -- You live life sort of...ummm...low, don't you boy? "Dip@!$%#...scumbag...@!$%#s..." you must be the life of the party among similarly-brained buddies, eh?

Erudite! Just flippin ERUDITE! (Go look it up in the dictionary)

P.S. Read the article again...some of the big bucks went to Hagman...the man who took two liver transplants from other more worthy people who should have been ahead of him on the list...because he was a drinker. OMG, did *YOU* take exception with my comment because *YOU* are an alcoholic too??? We may be on to something here.

P.P. S. ...and you swear often enough here that you've figured out you need to give extra spaces to your very, very clever words. That's so...ummm...CLEVER of you boy.

      :-)

Who are we to judge? Any one these days that gets what is entitled to them is a ray of hope that we will all have what we deserve.

So let me get this straight because you don't like someone means that large corporations should be allowed to use underhanded practices (proven yet in a court room)? Who cares about the livers? Not even a factor here. A wrong was done to someone and he has been compensated. It's nobody's business where it goes to either but it is a nice touch SOME OF IT went to charity.

Past or Present "some of the big bucks went to Hagman" thats right but it was HIS money that he recieved. Why shouldnt he get his own money back. The rest went to charity. Evidently your the one that should reread the article.

PatB: Did you mean to write "you're" and "WHO should reread"?

Reread my responses again, lad. I was adding thoughts about Hagman, not supporting CITI. I'm glad CITI paid out. And I understand it was his money. But now he gets to give millions away with all the good P.R. that creates...I just wish someone else "down the list" would have gotten a win in a case like that. His boozing days took livers from two other people who would otherwise be alive today. I wish it had been someone else to get a mil, and give mils away, and have a life-saving liver. His selfishness cost the lives of two other people.

Think before you react. The article was primarily about CITI, but my comment brought the focus onto Hagman. It was pertinent. Your comment that I wished CITI well was off base. Glad they got screwed back...wish it had been someone else.

        BYEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Do you know who these two people are that you claim are now dead because of Larry? How do you know they were not child molesters or such. Just because he drank doesnt mean a thing. Lots of people have that problem. It doesnt make them less of a human. However your ignorent comments show what type of human you are. "Your comment that I wished CITI well was off base".... where did I say that? You need to lay off the drugs your seeing things that are not there.

            #6.7 - Fri Oct 8, 2010 12:42 PM EDT

Thank *GOD* that the people who died because of Larry Hagman were "child molesters." LOLOL I didn't say he's less than human, did I... I said that he ruined his liver by alcohol, by the choices he made. And he ruined his second one by the same thing, drinking alcohol.

P.S. Did you mean to say "YOU'RE seeing things" in the last sentence, lad?

I was learned real good englush in skool.

Did I miss the part of the story where it explained the details for the litigation? Was this a total waste of print, and my time reading?

                Reply#10 - Fri Oct 8, 2010 12:12 AM EDT

It wasn't "litigation", Tracy. Arbitration is a form of what's called "alternative dispute resolution". It saves time and money and keeps the court systems (somewhat) less cluttered. Arbitration decisions are considered, at least in this case, "final and binding", which means when the Citi spokesman said they were disappointed with the result and were reviewing their options, that's code for "darn, we lost, let's see what we can do to delay forking over the cash". Bottom line though, they lose. Arbitration is also less formal than litigation with respect to rules of evidence. Doesn't mean you don't have to prove a prima facie case (a case that "stands on its own merit"). You do. It just means all the stupid, silly things that get thrown out of court (think O.J.) because of a technicality, do NOT get thrown out in this process. Plus, the arbitrators who render the decisions are not lay people, who in a jury are often clueless. These are people who know the law, know banking, and can't be swayed by some slick talking suit of an attorney. Hope this helps...

i just wonder how many "little people" dont even realize they are in the same situation as larry found out about and the banks and businesses just keep on screwing these people. everyone should check into their acounts etc. to see if they have been cheated too. always remember, these businesses are out for themslves nowdays and will cheat anyone they can. watch your money. just one mans opinion,.

If the Dems or Reps really cared for us they would pass a law that says: if your a bank that charges 25% credit card interest you should have a savings account that pays 5% interest and not the 0.45% they have now.

I'm glad for Larry but the rest of us are still victims of the banks we were forced to bail out.

Ladyg, I often read lots of intelligent comments among these posts. The problem seems to occur in two general instances: people are intensely passionate and express themselves strongly (causes others to jump in an attack their passion), trolls that intentionally post foolishness (intent on generating predictable attacks). We seem to take too much issue with grammar while dismissing the obvious intent of the poster. Just my two cents.

Good going Mr Hagman! Unfortunately, they will pay this award out of petty cash. Some executive will get a bonus because the actual money going to Mr Hagman is "only" one and a half million dollars...
