A collective YAWN to both the "filmmaker" and actor (in dire need of psychoactive medication).

There was a time I would have been interested. Now I just feel pity. Pity. That's all. Who needs the craziness? Who needs to think that he takes drugs? More pity. His brother died from taking drugs. My brother died from Kidney cancer. Do I want to have that in any way, shape,or form? Here we have a talented young man. Can't we just go with that and forget all the stupidity?

He's either laughing or crying all the way to the bank, but he IS on the way to the bank. My guess is, he's dressed in a blue suit and not wearing socks and is out of step, but is actually walking AWAY from the bank. The letters 28IF are on the volkswagon just across the street too. Is he really still here? We'll have to wait for another hidden message!

Classic, Marty. Maybe the "X" in his name looks like a cracked spine. Is this something I might actually have to pay to see? I don't think so...

If you really feel a need to see it, it should be on DVD in a couple of weeks and cable shortly thereafter.

This is a lose/lose for Phoenix. If it is a genuine documentary, then we see the inside of a confused, rudderless, talented actor and untalented hip-hop artist. If it is a spurious documentary, then we see the inside of a confused, ruddlerless man desperate for attention.

But, trust me, I am trying very hard to care about which it is.

                I've figured it out!

                It's not a documentary!

                It's not a mockumentary!

                It's a self-indulgent piece of crap.

                Andy Kaufman lives!

That was my first thought. He is trying to enter into the realm that Kaufman explored. The problem is that Kaufman was a comdian and they are allowed to behave a bit crazy...it's just that Kaufman took that 'crazy' to a level where you really didn't know if HE knew how insane it was. Turns out it was really Performance Art.

If Joaquin wanted to pull this off he should have made it more of a slow spiral into insanity rather than a sudden one. But of course its all an act...and only slightly interesting at best.

Of course it was a hoax. Phoenix and Affleck are simply trying to garner more money for this piece of trash film. They'll either not admit it and continue to try to make people believe it's all genuine...or they'll eventually come out with some ridiculous claim that it was an "artistic" social experiment. Regardless of which route they choose it seems they've decided to manipulate people with Phoenix's bizarre behavior and all the stories that have "leaked" out of their exploits while making it. I wouldn't be surprised in the future to learn that the lawsuits were either hoaxes or were instigated in order to increase interest in the film. Well, it worked boys...to some extent. You've got people talking...even me. Hopefully it won't work completely and most people won't bother to spend their money to see it...like me.

the article seems to imply that surfing the net for call girls and hiring prostitutes is a less than noble action. He's a great actor and a great rapper.

Boy, a bunch of you guys really have your panties in a wad over this one. I mean, what's the big deal one way or the other? I can't say I'm intrigued to any great degree, I definitely won't go see the movie, there are very few I will pay money to see, but he can play whatever games he feels like as long as no one is getting hurt. Lighten up.

My guess is he's talented (as an actor), more that a little eccentric, and mainly bored.

Obviously, this movie is a response to the overly self-seriouos 2007 Dylan biopic I'm Not There. Whether it is an ironic response or not remains to be seen. All this real- not real stuff is a mere red herring. Or not...

Seriously? Does anybody really care? Sorry you're not as talented as your brother Joaquin. Pathetic that you feel it necessary to make fun of the people who pay your way through life. You've made yourself a punchline, but not a very interesting one.
