Wait a minute, "20 years after it first aired"? That can't be right.

Professor Brown and Marty McFly loaned out the De Loren.

Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown was never a professor. And it was a DeLorean.

Two favorites: The cat toy factory where he and Vince Vaughn decide whether the toys can "play" and the motivational speaker at the Oracle retreat who "gets the party star-ted." OK, I lied, three...I also love the patriotic day at work where he wears the American flag underwear and gets uncomfortably close to his coworkers. His sketches on that show were inspired lunacy!

Those make me crack up as soon as he speaks.... doesn't even matter what he's saying....

The james lipton skits were funny too.

Ferrell stunk and all his characters were exactly the same. Sorry.

No...they...weren't. But great stab at being the "cool guy". I know, I know....he doesn't compare to ' insert random comedian from the 70's here'.

With all apologies to the "Saturday Night Live" greats, has there ever been a cast member with more memorable characters than Will Ferrell?

WIll Ferrell is a buffoon ! To compare Ferrell to the early SNL greats is ridiculous ! I agree, his characters are all the same. His popularity escapes me.

Will Ferrell just isn't funny. With all the talent that has been on SNL, I wouldn't even rank him in the top 25 alumni. He cannot compare to the likes of John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Dan...let's just say the whole original cast, Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, Billy Crystal, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, the list is way too long before I would even put Will on it.

His movies are just stupid. I like everything from sick to stupid humor. I'm sure Will is probably a nice guy too. Nothing against him personally, but his act is the same in everything he does.

I stopped when I saw Billy Chrystal and Adam Sandler. Even Piscopo is questionable at best.

Piscopo wasn't my favorite but he is so much funnier than Will Ferrell. Billy Crystal had his own career before and after SNL, but he still added more to SNL than Will.

Disagree, I bet most wouldn't even know he was on it otherwise, as his stint was only a few seasons at best.

                      Who's Will Ferrel?

Did he play Al Gore Pres debates, Florida recount, Growing the beard?

They should do a skit where all blues get awarded Nobel prizes, that would be interesting.

Cowbell for some reason is like a defining moment for some strange reason. was just the right thing at right time. So funny. And if you saw Conans last show when he sung at the end he busted out the Cowbell. Greatness

I don't how someone, IMO, can do such great skits on SNL and make such pathetic movies.

Ferrel's Harry Carey skits were his funniest. I liked his Alex Trebek skits and 'W' was O.K. but I always turned the channel when the cheerleaders came on and for me the ONLY reason the 'Cowbell' skit was funny was because of Christopher Walken's character. The problem with both of the last two sketches was that they went on too long. A lot of the SNL sketches in the last 20 years strike me that way: they are funny for a few minutes but the writers apparently do not have enough material for the show so they pad skits unnecessarily. And I would have to say that Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi were funnier, overall.

I agree. While I liked Ferrell, there were times when he just WAS NOT FUNNY! His G.W. skits were great though. He has 2 Best of SNL dvds, both of which I own. The first was pretty good but the second was terrible! Phil Hartman was a genius! Still cannot believe he is gone! It makes me both angry and incredibly sad.

Ferrell's Trebek and Cowbell skits were funny because the entire idea and skit was funny. Unto itself, his performances in those skits were just parts and not the highlight. I liked his role in The Lovers and Inside the Actor's Studio.

Ferrell's skits worked best when he kept things reigned in. Other times he could let things go to far and he would wind up simply screaming unfunny things at fellow castmembers. He was mostly funny -- particularly when he was kickin' it Reno style!

I actually did a parody of the cowbell sketch at a horror convention. I was dressed as the Grim Reaper and wore a cowbell as part of my chains. I flipped on the music and started playing along. Ended up winning the costume contest. It was titled "In tribute to Gene"

I agree Phil is the King! But a cast member who often goes by without mention is Darrel Hammond, he is quietly hilarious!

Will Ferrell as Robert Goulet a favorite in our house but the best was the nude model when Julianne Moore was the teacher. "You people wouldn't know real beauty if it took a crap all over your car, which by the way it is just seconds away from doing".... "I use the body heat to melt the cheese...." LOL
