So, Mel Gibson deserves to be locked up and his kid taken away from him. Seriously.

Now, here's the part I also don't like about this story. How exactly did this recording occur? Because it sounds like either an invasion of privacy, or if law enforcement was listening in, it was leaked. In this case, the leak is really done good, but is this what our nation is becoming? Where it is justified to listen in on someone's home if they are famous enough? Now, if this was recorded in a public place, okay. I don't know the details. But let's not overstep the huge problem this is if it occured in a private residence and was leaked, even if in this case it may save someone.

I do think this could save Oskana, by the way. This is a serious fingerprint should anything happen to her from now on.

Mel, Mel, Mel, ......Here's how this comes off.... Mel has lost the love and trust of the people that are closest too him. His partner, family or friends .....the people that he holds more dear than life itself, and he knows that without them, he has lost the things that are most important in life. Mel has been portrayed as the man that has it all...he's smart , handsome, wealthy.....got it made,but in reality, he is so stressed and depressed that he wants desperately too escape and is using alcohol and drugs, or a combination, to the mask the pain. When you do that , you don't think rationally...you don't speak rationally, and you hurt the one's you love. There is another way out, that is permanent, and we all know people who have taken that option. I don't consider myself handsome, smart, and definitely not wealthy, but I know this scenario, all too well.........I have lived it and continue to try to deal day after day,but the nights are the longest.

I'm Black and grew up in a predominately Black community and NEVER witnessed Black men talking like this. Reverse-Racism does not exist...just good old fashioned Racism-you know, the kind you are so subtlely displaying by using this comment section as a platform for you own prejudices....meanwhile, Mel Gibson is out of control but this will not be the end of him-there are enough racist, homophobic, anti-semitic fans that will continue to support him-let him put the Rehab bandaid + a TV interview with some sellout black personality i.e. Al Shapton and all is forgiven

Real men don't talk to women that way ...period no matter what their race is. If your around people who talk to women like be a man and step up and set an example.

Oh, gawd! Why is it OJ always comes up as an example of black male violence against white women? Why not mention all the black men who were lynched and mutilated in this country just because they were black. Or the black women who were raped and made to bear the children of their employers? Actually Newton-918654, the last known Black lynching in America was in the late 1960's. Your facts are slightly incorrect. This is our parents in their prime. So your statement on slavery ended in 1864 is valid, just not the murdering based on racism didn't. Mel was just wrong plain and simple and it still shows how closet racism has taken the place of blatent racism.

Lynn and Krista, I thought exactly the same thing when I heard the tape - she's after a paycheck. She new exactly how to bait him to lose his temper. She's playing him big time, you can hear it in her voice. Now if he really did hit her, he was very wrong and the police will deal with him, but if you're being abused, you would turn the evidence over to the police and not sell it to the media.

Walt, Maybe you need to learn forgiveness. I am not saying that Mel needs to be babied and treated any better than anyone else for what he has done. But he is in the public. You can not tell us that you have NEVER done anything that you wished 2 seconds after you had done it, that you would not have done it. He can't even appologize without everyone knowing it. He was very wrong. But if he says he was wrong and his family forgives him, so should you.

We are not God or his priest and although I find his behavior disgusting and vile, I pray for his soul and feel sorry for someone who has had every advantage and carries so much hate for others in his heart. This is not what the Catholic church teaches.

Every Catholic man I know treats women as lesser beings -- unless of course they have left the cult and reject their horrific views and the role of women.
