Southland's #1; NBC was mad to let it go. Modern Family's best comedy. All shows on this list, except Damages- not seen it, make great TV.

Damages is an awesome show!! It's in the third season and I love it! Glenn Close is fab as Patty, it keeps you guessing and the last piece of the puzzle makes it all come together in the season finale!! woo hoo!!

The Marriage Ref, is my fave new show!! Hilarious! Of course regular faves are CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS

                  Reply#2 - Fri Mar 12, 2010 3:00 PM EST

My favorite shows are mostly crime dramas, but the ones I like are well written and well acted, even if a bit formulaic at times. I like Cold Case, Law & Order, Law & Order:CI, CSI, CSI:NY, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist (love the snarky humor), Numb3rs, Bones, NCIS, The Closer, Saving Grace. I don't like "soap opera" style shows where everyone gets all "touchy-feely" and rants and raves at each other. I don't like CSI:Miami because all they ever seem to show are sexy girls jiggling around in bikinis. It's hard to take the female cops seriously when they wear necklines down to their navels. (Well, maybe not that far, but...y'know...) Same reason I don't like Law & Order:SVU as much as the others: too much scenery chewing and constant drumbeat about sex. Yada, yada, yada. I really miss shows like "Monk" and "Without a Trace". I enjoy really good documentaries, like "The Universe" and "How the Earth was Made" on the History Channel, but I hate all "reality" shows, including Survivor, Amazing Race, etc. They don't reflect any part of MY reality and we're back to scenery chewing! I despise it when some buffoon talks into the camera as if it were a real person. What do I care about his/her plots and feelings? Sheesh!

I should have mentioned House also. Great show. Sigh - and CSI - Miami - great photography, I always feel like I've been on vacation - although a violent one. And The Amazing Race still keeps me hooked. Just had to add those.

I agree with The Good Wife. It's a great show. I am also very partial to NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles and Castle. I even have my husband hooked on Castle, which is major, as he usually only wants to watch sports programs. I prefer Mercy over Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family makes me laugh out loud.

TNT's The Closer and Saving Grace are in my top 5. Also I recently became a fan of Showtimes Nurse Jackie and Unikted States of Terra (check out season 1 of both on Showtime-on-demand before season 2 starts 03/22). I had not realized it untill now that makes my top 4 all about strong women with amazing actress'.

"Breaking Bad" is absolutely outstanding in both its writing and acting. Unfortunately, there have not been any new episodes for a while, which might have skewed the voting results against the show. The third season doesn't start until Sunday, March 21.

The Good Wife is just a fabulous show. Finally, an adult drama without gratuitous sex, soap opera type story lines and women as push-overs.

That said, some of the best shows aren't listed: The Closer, Saving Grace and the original Law & Order.

I think the best show on TV is Big Love that airs on HBO. More new episodes during the season would be perfect!

I am with you on Chuck. I am so glad that in the end he did not fall victim to the Lenno experiment. That is why Chuck was not on in the fall. Then after fan outcry the network said he would come back in March and he actually arrive early in January. I record all of my favorite shows to watch later, except for Chuck. Great way to end my Mondays.
