And I'm wondering who will be the 3rd famous person to die today... First Teddy, then Mr. Dunn... Who's next?

How very sad. He was a fabulous author. At least he lived long enough to see O.J. behind bars.

Dominick Dunne took the murder of his daughter and made the horrible event into a lifelong passion for victims and for justice. I also am glad that he got to see O.J. behind bars.

Did they catch the scum that killed her ?

      #5.1 - Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:45 PM EDT

Yes they did. He was an abusive ex-boyfriend that she was desperately trying to get away from. For some unknown reason he was basically given a slap on the wrist and was sentenced to a ridicously light sentence. He actually tried to blame Mr. Dunne for the difficulties he faced when Mr. Dunne made the case public and changed his last name to his mother's first name.

Dom Dunne will be sorely missed by many. Although I never had the good fortune of meeting him, in ways I feel as though I knew him; perhaps because he put his life history out there and for that I am thankful. The struggles he overcame made him an inspiration to myself and hopefully others. Dominick was a survivor and will be remembered fondly. My heart goes out to his family. May you rest in peace Mr. Dunne you will be missed but never forgotten.

I read Vanity Fair just to see what Dominick Dunn was writing about. What a wonderful advocate for victims he was and just an interesting person. He will surely be missed by many.

      Condolences to his family.

I'm comforted by the fact he's now seeing his beloved Dominique in heaven.

Yes...he spent his life trying to "out" the rich and famous whose status forgave them their crimes. Until he came on board to "out" them their priviledge. I, also, hope he is with his much loved daughter who was murdered. I'm sure ANY parent would want to spend their life to bring justice for his child...and others.

Mr. Dunne was one of my favorite authors and he will be greatly missed, I cannot remember receiving a copy of Vanity Fair and not turning directly to his articles. A great man, my condolences to the family, especially Griffin, whose work I also enjoy.

Dominick Dunne was one of my favorite authors, and I will truly miss him! We have lost one of the best authors, and reporters of our time! I am calling Dominick a reporter because of his outstanding coverage of the OJ Simpson trial and other trials! I have been a subscriber to Vanity Fair magazine for decades, and I always turned to Dunne's articles as soon as the latest magazine arrived.

RIP Dominick - you have left your mark on the world! :(

Such a great loss. I loved the mpovies, made for GV's, and his books and articles. He took his own tragic loss and developed a huge following and talent from it. May his memory be for a blessing...

Watch the documentary about Dominick Dunne's life/career--'After the Party'-it is amazing.  A TRUE American hero died today.  Rest in peace, to a fine gentleman.  Thanks for all the years of insight and entertainment.  You are already missed.

Good riddance @!$%#er! Dominick Dunne was a opportunist that took years of journalistic license to express his anger over his daughter's murder which he never got over. He's actually no different than Martin Bashir who also fabricated lies during his "Living with Michael Jackson." He should have been "tuned-up" when he wrote the book about the Simpson trial. Too bad that Nicole's real killer had to lay low or maybe he or she would have got to Dunne next. And as for Ron Goldman, he wouldn't be dead to this day if he wouldn't have been as hot, willing, and ready to sleep with Nicole under the guise of returning her glasses as he was. I bet they both thought up that excuse collectively earlier that night, so you reap what you sow. Later old coger.

        Dear [out-of-your]Mindart,

Considering the foolish allegations contained in your post, you are clearly an uneducated idiot; have severe mental impairmets; and/or you really were on the Simpson "jury". And for your information, Nicole was NOT married to OJ at the time of her murder and did not need to cook up any 'excuses'. My sympathy to your Mother.

I hate that he's gone. I thoroughly enjoyed his program Power, Privilege and Justice on True TV. I admired his forthright manner, in calling it as he saw it. His own personal experience with his daughter's murder, gave him a deeper understanding about our court system especially as it applied to the have's and not the not's. His coverage of high profile crime in the court room, will truly be missed. He was a gentlemen to the end.

I don't know what mindfarts problem is but Mr. Dunne was anything but an oppurtunist. God bless him he went through hell, when his daughter died. I loved his books and like others when straight to his column in Vanity Fair. Couldn't stand Grayson but loved Mr. Dunne. May his sons find peace in knowing their father is with their sister. I believe he actually should have the privelge to be laid in Arlington Cementary instead of Kennedy.
