That's too bad, I've gotten to like the two Bens. Living in the Chicago area, the various incarnations of the movie reviews shows have always been a favorite viewing of mine on Saturday nights. In the older days, straight up through Roper and the occasional guest critic, the show was pretty predictable: action, American comedy, or rom-com- skip it; British, artsy, or foreign movie that won't play within a 100 miles of you till it gets to DVD- go see it. The two Bens have thankfully been less predictable, and have surprised me sometimes with their yay or nay (or rent) votes. If they go back to the old format, I'll only take it if they have less-predictable critics. There are some of us who prefer action to artsy-fartsy British movies, thank you much.
I'm relieved the producers have replaced these two scions of film families. They never made me want to see a movie or NOT see a movie: just to get a hold of their collars and shake them out of their torpor.

This is great news. Two smart and insightful critics. What would be even better: Sharing the joy with guest critics who might bring alternative perspectives (i.e. women/people of color/differently abled/working class/TLG, etc. etc. This is not meant to be an incendiary comment. We all know that embodiment affects perception, especially when discussing responses to film.)
