OMG, did mike finally look in the mirror to see what those dastardly doctors did to his face? Or was he trying to keep up with those kids again?

It's sad, he had such talent as a young man.

Goes to show, a 50 something black man just can't successfully live the life of a 12 yo white girl....

Prayers to the King of Pop! TMZ/FOX5 reported that he did die, but I was like, there is no way they could report that because the HIPA laws are in effect!!! These media folks kill me with always boasting about being the "first" to report!! They need to shut the hell up and wait until the family confirms it!

Given they found him not breathing when they arrived, and no one has said when the call was, it will be tough for him to survive, if he is still alive (I personally do not trust TMZ because celebrity news sources have been notoriously incorrect).

That said, what I find a shame is that he let fame get to his head and went overboard. While none of the Jacksons have had a perfect life, it seems to me the other four brothers in the Jackson 5 have had relatively normal lives. Even Janet Jackson has had a more normal life, even with that Superbowl incident (though I think it woke her up a bit on how that type of fandom can ruin your career.

Jackson was a talented musician - make no mistake about it. But, with all he's done to himself (physically or allegedly) I sadly felt something like this would happen. It's a warning to all those who want the celebrity aspect - there are many dark sides to it as well.

I believe as many others Jackson was a pedophile and got away with what he did because of his wealth, but you can not cheat death!!I am glad he is dead and can no longer destroy another child's life. The music he left behind will not comfort the children from which he stole their innocence, and changed their life forever, but knowing he can no longer hurt anyone will.

The media is many formats (radio,TV, print, etc).  If those people who didn't write about him or talk about him, then how did he achieve his fame?  You haven't heard about me because the media has put me in their "limelight".  He is the one that brought on the additional attention from the media by acting like a freak.  The real issue about the attention is why he wanted to appear to be so abnormal.  But the media did acknowledge his talent, they also had trouble adjusting to his weekly make-overs. They haven't been denying his talent, but it has been more of a freak show lately than a talent show.

For those talking about Jackson's charge of being a pedophile and taking jabs at each other for "spelling issues," the spelling as "paedophile" is actually correct - it's the British spelling.

Spelling it phonetically (Pedofile) or just bad spelling "Peedopile," I can understand the correction.

you say "I work in the business and know things you don't"

whoopdeee frigging do! did you think that somehow by stating you work in the entertainment business puts your higher up the "food chain"?

so you had freinds who sent their kids over to stay at Neverland and this is what - something to be envied?

It is truly sad that he fell so far from grace. He distorted his looks and went from one of the most admired pop stars to one that was looked at like a freak. He has not looked healthy/well in quite some time.

I truly feel sorry for his children. Whatever he did or did not do (the child molestation allegations) they have paid the price for. His obvious social/mental issues cost the children as well. The only hope is that they will have a chance for some normalcy. I hope that they are kept away from reading the awful things people have said in the past and will continue to say in the future at least until they are older and it can be explained to them.

Let these children mourn their father as they will undoubtedly have much to deal with in their lives just because of who they are. Do remember they are just that children and they should be given respect now. No matter what he will always be their father and guaranteed that is how they saw him.

First let me say this Jackson was never ever convicted of abusing anyone ever. People like Newton are just promoting the unfair gossip that has surrounded Michael all his life.

In the first accusation he paid the people off because he was a recluse and did not want to go to trial. All aspects of that case pointed to the same thing as the second one and that was gold diggers. I met Michael and his brothers and sisters when they were the Jackson Five. I owned a rather large record company in one of the largest cities in America. Michael and all the other kids were well mannered and shy at that point and you could tell at that time they were not ready for the turmoil they were about to face being a very popular group. Over the years as the group grew in popularity they made several stops in my city and they grew as persons with each visit.

Michaels problem was he had no childhood. If you go back and watch some of the earlier videos you can see he was very young when this group started. He worshipped youth. He loved youth. He wanted to be as the song goes "Forever Young" He told me once his music would always be popular as long as he could keep it where young people could understand it. Michael wanted to be young. He wanted young people around him so he could pretend to be an adolescent while he was with them. He could pretend to be young again. Something he missed the first time because he was denied that the first time around. All of it the farm, the face lifts, the chamber, the masks, all wanting to be young.

What we do to our entertainers is tragic. We force them into lives of seclusion and fear. We jump on anything any gold digger says they may have done. We take part of their lives give them money there is no place they can spend it like we do. A walk in the park an amusement park or even a movie is out of the question. ELvis had to rent an entire restaurant to go out to dinner at one time.

Michael is at peace now and may he rest there for eternity. He gave us something that made a hell of a lot of people in this world a lot happier. Now for me his music was not my cup of tea. It did not have to be because I have a great ear for all types of music and what he did was far above most that was produce in his lifetime. May he now find the peace where he is that he could not find here on this earth and thank you Mr jackson for being one of the better entertainers I have ever met.

        "dr michael eric jackson dyson"

... hey, i love michael eric dyson - i really do... but what i saw of him on keith olbermann's hardball show a little while ago - his gushing, over the top tribute/eulogy of the now deceased michael jackson was absolutely embarrassing. the accolades he placed upon him were as though jackson was a combination of mozart (specifically referred to by dyson), stevie wonder, martin luther king, ghandi, the dalai lama, and so on, and so on... all the k.o.p.'s flaws were reduced and minimized as mere "foibles" by dyson. i mean, LOL

noone - noone can refuse to acknowledge the ground breaking effect michael jackson and his brothers (the j5) had when they hit the scene, and with their first 4, 5 albums - sea change transformation. noone -noone can deny the effect his solo albums had on the music business in particular and popular culture in general - how he galvanized media's (mtv's) coverage and portrayal of music/entertainment/superstardom as shear spectacle...
his songs - some of which he wrote or had a hand in writing/arranging - some of which he didn't (remember quincy, teddy riley, et al, et al, and etc... ) - were signature capsules of their respective time periods - indelibly so

michael jackson was an incredibly flawed individual - this again, is coming from one who was at his most impressionable when the j5 broke in the late 60's, and will forever tout their impact, and individually, his majesty back then... - the physical caricature he allowed, in fact, made himself to become; the dark neuroses that mutated into psychoses involving his 'proclivity' for under aged accompaniment... just for starters. unfortunately, what with being nine yrs old and having grown women tossing undergarments on stage at you, coupled w/father joe ruling with an unyielding iron fist, mj was most likely twisted and jacked up from jump street... my point of this post though, trust me, is not to besmirch the deceased...

back to dyson - i believe that in his quest (as has been the case over the past year or so) to be the "on call" resident authoritarian on all things 'black-centric', he has become sort of a caricature of himself - mike (dyson, not jackson - not this time) has 'jumped the shark' with this performance on hardball - it will be tough looking at you in the future m.e.d. and not being haunted by your fawning account [whitewashing?] - no pun intended - of the legacy/tragedy of one michael jackson's life...

I am a licensed psychotherapist who has worked with sex offenders. Based on my knowledge from that experience, I firmly believe that Michael Jackson was/is a pedophile. I will not be sorry to see him go.

An ethical therapist wouldn't make a statement like that without actually having examined a person. There is a lot more to know about his condition than what has been reported.

To Karen in LA....I do not work in the business but I have met many celebs due o the nature of my job. Most of them are good normal people who act for a living. They are soccer moms, car poolers, and deeply involved with pet charities when time allows. They have bills to pay and kids to raise. They DO NOT let their kids sleep with a 40 yo man nor dangle their infants off of a balcony. The only one his whole family with any sense was Rebe who got the hell out of dodge as soon as she was able to.

BFD, his music, just watch Thriller, sorry he is dead, and bummer for Farrah to die on the same day and her death minimized, the news coverage here was horrible, channel 6 CBS in PDX with Kelly Day parroting what the LA homicide cop said, almost punched my tele until I remembered it was serious coconuts, nothing worse than a tv anchor parroting what you just foocking heard, she is a parroting MORON, yes I changed channels

@Tempest19: Professional ethics prevent a psychotherapist from rendering a formal diagnosis for a person the therapist has never treated WHILE THE THERAPIST IS ENGAGED IN HIS/HER PROFESSIONAL DUTIES (eg: providing expert witness testimony in a court of law, communicating with insurance companies or other healthcare providers, providing psychotherapy services in a healthcare setting, etc...). A psychotherapist is perfectly at liberty to speculate on his/her own free time about the diagnosis for ANYONE, including a person that therapist has never treated, without running afoul of the ethical guidelines for the profession.

You are exactly correct. I doubt this person is even a therapist and if this person is, this therapist has learned that you can not diagnose people on a blog site without being called out on it.

What people fail to understand, Michael Jackson was a star at the age of 5 years old. He was a major star and entertainer ever since then.

In my opinion, that is why he built Neverland and wanted kids over. He never got a chance to play and that is the truth.

@Karen in Los Angeles: I find it hilarious that you would actually post here questioning the fact that I am a psychotherapist. Several weeks ago, in the comments here on Newsvine regarding California's Prop 8, you claimed to have legal training and experience that allowed you insights into the issue that eluded other people. Now, in the comments on Michael Jackson's death, you make the case that you understand celebrities/entertainers better than others because, "I work in the business and have an understanding that you do not." I'd say delusional disorder is about the only thing you have a better understanding of than other people.

Oh...and your previous post here stating that Michael Jackson was a "master businessman" was absurd. It has been widely reported in the past few years that Michael Jackson was in terrible financial straits. An article currently here on msnbc.com's front page reports that for some time Michael Jackson had been spending $20-$30 million dollars more each year than he earned. He died $400,000,000.00 in debt!!!!! That is some master businessman, Karen in Los Angeles!

It seems that there is freedom of speech, only on here, it's as long as someone agrees with you. I didn't make any derogatory remarks other than what was fact, he was an accused pedaphile. But I see that a lof of you people supported this accused pedaphile. So I'll say it again...good ridance to this piece of garbage child abusing freak. For those of you denying that he was a pedaphile obvioulsy are denying your own exsistance. If he wasn't guilty during his trial, why did years before he pay off a family of a child to keep a case out of court? This showed a pattern of behavior. MJ even admitted to sharing his bed with children in a nationally aired TV interview. And the kids weren't even his!! Can't blame the kids, I blame the parents that exposed the kids to him after his settlement with the first family. At least now he'll be judged by a Judge that knows all and he won't be able to buy his way out of his sentence to the seventh circle of hell.

He's moonwalking all the way to hell. At least now with his passing, SOME children are safe from this predator who hid behind his fame and whatever money he had left.

Michael Jackson was a part of my teen age years and even early 20s back in the eighties. I choose to remember Mr. Jackson from his incredible work on albums (yes kiddies, that what they were once called) such as "Off the wall" and "Thriller" and of course his earlier material with his family. "Bad" was pretty much the last I remember of Michael being what I would consider... "sane" or even somewhat "normal." Even though for years there were those who attempted such logic as "He is an artist and not understood" or "He is something special and therefore acts special" or any of those psycho-babble and pseudo- BS reason that he was not held in check for what he did to himself and later... to innocent others.

Some of the things said on this comment space while being very mean spirited... are true. And, for the same reason that Mr. Jackson was allowed to do some of the crazy and not-so-cool things he did for so long without being held responsible... have been deleted. Those reasons... to protect his image... and the man... simply do not hold water with me. I have seen the Great Elvis bashed about his weight and drug addictions... it only hold true that Michael should be held to the same fire. I feel the only way a man that was in the physical condition could have met this end, is because some where down the line of his life... most likely the most recent parts. He was given the space all great celebrities are unfortunately given to destroy themselves by those that are supposed to be there to protect them from not only others... but themselves... God knows we have seen our share over the many years. And no matter the fame, fortune or wonderful memories Michael Jackson brings to mind, and as wonderfully talented a musical and dance artist as he was... he was very flawed and hurt people that we do not even know about because that is what his money and fame allowed.

Rest in Peace Mr. Jackson. I will always enjoy the music and watching you dance. I will remember the 2 times I saw you live here in South Florida. I will never forget watching you grow in fame, fortune, popularity and all the heights it can bring... and I will never forget the reasons that you fell from those heights. Some wrong men do can be looked past as youthful mistakes or drug addicted stupidity. Some wrongs men do, they do out of greed and jealousy.... but what you did comes from a very dark and evil place... a place that no man is allowed by others to go and be excused... and even though it may be the "right" thing to do... what you did is not so easy to forgive or forget... I will do my best. And I hope that you have found rest now from what your life and father pushed upon you.

This is pretty much the reaction I was expecting when I heard he died. I loved his music and loved to watch him dance, but I, like a lot of others, have a hard time giving him a free pass.

I can't say with any certainty whether or not he was a pedophile, but eccentricity doesn't account for sleeping in the same bed with little boys you have over for visits. It taints his legacy and costs him adoration from a huge portion of society. Those of you who scream that it was all lies and that he wasn't a pedophile are just going to have to understand that there are those of us who believe he was, and we'll just have to agree to disagree.

He DID do some weird things like hanging that baby out the window, and all of the face work, but that doesn't define his talent. Never trust movie/entertainment news sources - I'd go with CNN, FOX, AP (preferable), Reuters (preferable). No matter what your stance politically, they at least will report the basic facts as they are...

.... then put the slant on them.

I seriously doubt it - only because falsifying a report of an emergency is a criminal offense. Even I do not think that Jackson - even with his weird eccentricities and suspicions, would stoop to that level.

I just hope we do not get all these awful tabloid "reasons" why both Fawcett or Jackson died. I just have a weird idea that one will do that Jackson committed suicide because he fell in love with Fawcett and when she died so would he... or that they were married.

(BTW, I'm not being ugly here at all - I can see them do that and just get so sick of how Tabloids manipulate things and just skirt the safety side of slander and libel.)

Jackson was found innocent after a very long and thorough trial. Show some respect for the dead. This man gave you the best music of the 80ies, and still holds the best selling album after 25 years.

People do and will say anything they can about you if they are trying to extort money. And if the kid he settled out of court with had really been molested he'd have been at the trial to testify on behalf of the kid they were in court for.

He is a grown man now and should have had no qualms about showing up in defense of "another child". Gee wonder why he didn't. Because his family was a bunch of liars too. That's why.

You really should have watched this trial from start to finish. It was bogus as hell.

He may not have thought so.. but he was. Mr. Jackson left planet earth over a decade ago.... I almost wonder if he caught syphilis back in the day?? That boy lost his mind so long ago.. I hope he is in a better place.... because he sure wasn't living in this realm of reality....

Even if he did touch boys inappropriately, the good he did still outweighs any of that.

He's done a lot more to help people than any of you, your families, your friends, and your church all put together.

The latest reports, at least in the New York Post, suggest that MJ may have been high as a kite for quite some time. That might explain his strange behavior. It is sad to see great talents go down like that. But it seems to be a tradition in the business. Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison, Greg Allman, Wynona Ryder, Tammy Wynette, etc, etc. People must be careful with painkillers. Prescription drugs are addictive, too. Mixed with alcohol, the result can be deadly.

I understand wanting to defend Jackson - but if the worst thing said about Jackson over the next couple of days is he slept in a hyperbaric chamber...........I'd let it go. You'll have plenty of other opportunities to challenge outrageous rumors/claims...

By the way, when he went into the chamber did he take bubbles with him?

Jackson was innocent. He never molested anybody. Those boys who brought a lawsuit against him later admitted that they did it for publicity.

Jackson may have been a weirdo, but he is innocent. I didn't like him before, but now I am finally reading all of his biographies, which is something I will be doing from now on for other clebrities that the media despises.

I just have trouble believing people that would leave their kids with some superstar who's eccentricities had been in the news more than his immense talent for the better part of 20 years. And then wanted out of this world money, not jail, not revenge, MONEY. OJ was acquitted at one time, too. Would you have encouraged your daughter to date him after that if you weren't looking for something?

MJ should serve as a cautionary tale to all these freaks that push their kids way too hard to be the next big thing. People may never remember that this dude was arguably the best entertainer to ever grace a stage in his heyday. Like him or not, that's sad.

Not guilty is not the same thing as innocent. Not guilty means there wasn't enough evidence to find you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Innocent means you didn't do it.

As much as he tried to be "grown up" his stunted emotional grip on everyday reality was always weak. The Santa Barbara DA and sheriff's dept certainly had their witch hunt during the trial at Santa Maria. This whole thing (while expected) is most tragic.

I should begin by stating that I am not an attorney, but my understanding is that the accusers sought money because it was a civil trial. In a civil trial, when the plaintiff (in this case, Jackson's accusers) wins the case, the court will compel the defendant to honor a right, or impose an injunction to prevent/compel an future act, or award monetary damages. Clearly, in this case, monetary damages are the most appropriate means of redress since the case was not about someone's rights being abridged nor about preventing/compelling a future act.

For one thing, I'm sure nobody here personally knows any facts about MJ. Media can report anything they want, but the bottom line is nobody KNOWS, KNOWS for a fact anything that he has done in his life. Have the opinion to like or dislike him, but nobody can go around acting as if he IS this or IS that. Quite frankly, WE don't know.

Also, does that really matter now? He has died and he has left family and children behind that he would have been instrumental to in their future lives. Even if you want to say, sure, he's a messed up man who has done bad things, you need to think about more than just him and think about what he means to others. The husband or son or or father in prison is still a sad sight to see as we could only wish those close to him could benefit from a better existence - this is the same with MJ. Gross as it may have been, he is getting more harsh treatment than people who have maliciously beaten animals or committed murder. And, again, nothing has been crystal clear to us.

Agree or disagree, those who have to speak maliciously about a dead man were just looking for some kind of release anyway.

Why ANYONE would want to see this WAY PAST HIS "prime", pedophile, is beyond me. This latest "emergency" situation appears to be his way of getting out of his contractual agreement to perform in London and still retain his "grip" (pun intended), on his mesmerized fan base. Hopefully, the world will just ignore this degenerate, and leave him deal with Perez Hilton in a public spat. Oooooh --- CAT FIGHT !

Say what you want about Michael Jackson, but never, ever will there ever be another record like Thriller, or another true talent like Michael Jackson - ever! Somewhere over on page 3 would be "We are all dead, NK just launched." But then again, I bet all the reporters are working the "Jackson Case" right now.

I do mourn for both Faucett and McMahon, but Jackson was so much more prominent as an entertainer for so many people. Not that anyone is less important, but it's easier to relate and, as may be true, it puts up a pretty good distraction.

I'm just happy I don't have to hear anything about something COMPLETELY stupid, like, oh I don't know, JON AND KATE.

Farrah was not a phony, she left Charlies Angels because of the direction that show was taking her career.  I would not put her in the same category with MJ, like his music but other than that no comment.  When someone dies, they have a family, doesn't matter how disfunctyional.  Or am I mistaken and you are on a cross?

Thank you for loving him like millions of us did. Yes people are so very, very cruel. They are also making nasty remarks about Farrah Faucett who also has lost her battle to live. There is such cruelty in this world and a sad lack of humanity from so many. May both Michael and Farrah rest in piece.
