Big Frickin deal! Glad that she was able to fool that sarcastic idiot, Simon Cow. And that other new one. The show is getting old and if Paula leaves, hopefully people will get tired of watching it.

She should not be allowed to compete.  She has an unfair advantage over the "every day" people who are trying out.  You knew she was known when Kara said she knew her and knew of her work.  This show is for unknowns.

Create another show for semi-professionals if they want to go that route. 

It won't be as much fun to watch if they let her compete.

They should have thought this one through years ago.  My guess in there is some raw talent better than her lerking in the crowd of new comers.  Seems if she were that good to begin with she wouldn't have back tracked to American Idol.  Survivor may have been a better gig for her.  While I am not a fan-natic of the show, kids and tweens love it!

I don't think that she should be allowed to person as she is "semi-professional"  She's already had more opportunities than many of the people trying out.  That would be a whole other show.

It's an unfair advantage for the people who are actually starting out and have never had a break.  The show will not be as much fun to watch if they start allowing singers like Jessica to participate. 

BTW - I like Kara!!  She has fit in seamlessly!!

I think Idol should be about talent- so what if she has had her shot at fame and lost it, bottom line this girl can sing, she has personality, the looks, and an amazing voice. That is what idol is about- the whole package they are looking for an American Idol after all. Also who better to have win the season and have ppl look up to then someone who kept fighting for her dream and triumphed. I would definately want my kids to look up to her, more than the ditsy bikini girl! Also If she sucked at singing and audititioned ppl wouldn't even be having an issue about it. The ones who have a hissy about her getting on Idol are the jealous ones. I am happy that she's made it this far and I will definately be hoping she continues to "wow" us:) Good luck Joanna!

Basically, it would be like Bobby Flay being one of the contestants on Hells Kitchen.

Now, it she wants to be on a show where other professional singers compete - fine but American Idol was not "advertised" as a competition for professionals.

It got stupid after season 2!!!

Joanna is an awesome talent that had bad management and is now starting over.  She was never really given that shot and deserves the shot on American Idol since it is and has been within their rules since the start of the show.  Many other contestants had the same kind of background, including Taylor Hicks. I'm not sure its any kind of unfair advantage to the others.  I've seen 'unknowns' have a fan base that seems unfair to others who don't have the same kind of fanbase.... it is what it is and has been for years.  Joanna is still unknown to most people and will still have to beat the others in competition for the title of IDOL...it doesn't come easily and will require hard work and great singing week after week!

I don't understand why she was even allowed to audition.. was this someone the producers wanted.. think about it.. all for the drama. I don't think she should be allowed on "idol" but maybe she should?? ditto to the bikini comment:)  

I can't figure out how anyone would think this girl doesn't deserve a chance.   I never heard of her before. Never heard her on our radio stations, never saw her video on MTV.  That is why I say that she never made it in the music industry.  So I am not sure what kind of record deal she had. To me its obvious the problem with her career so far was her record label - the girl can sing and I must say much better that either of the Simpsons, Britney, etc.   Maybe now she will get the exposure if she makes it through the next round on American Idol.  I think whatever label she was on made a HUGE mistake by not promoting this girl.  In my opinion, they really messed up and wasted the last several years of this girls career.  After some research, the only rule is that you can't have a CURRENT record deal and from what I read she DOESN'T.  She was dropped by her label.  I hope that she along with all the other contestants get the chance to show everyone their GOD given talent.  I would much rather see contestants who raise the bar a little higher than people who really can't sing. 

I agree that she needs to be out.  She has already had her chance and if she can't make it in the foot up she has already had then forget her.  American Idol will start being about old star rejects if they allow her in.

Greedy people are boring !!!!!!

Lets get real here.  How can you comment on someone (Greedy people are boring) when we don't even know anything about her background.  And who are we to judge a book by it's cover?  This is a competition.  I mean come on, have you seen some of these kids that believe they can sing?  That's just it, they believe they can, so let them try and pursue what they believe they can do.  That's whats wrong with America.  We're all so ready to judge someone and toss them to the curb because we think they are one up on us.  This is a competition, may the best kid win, talent, no talent, fresh talent, existing talent.

This girl seems to be so desperate to be famous as does her family. She's been pursuing (unsuccessfully) fame and celebrity status since she was a kid in Annie. It's kind of pathetic when you think about it.

She should not be allowed to compete this changes the whole scope of the show. The competitors should only be amateurs they should not be allowed to compete if they have been in the professional limelight.

This door got opened with Carly Smithson last year. I had no problem with contestants having either independent label releases or self-released material (such as Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks), but someone who's already appeared on Broadway (yeah I know she was a kid), already had a major label release, and is enough of an insider to be dating a professional dancer who appears regularly on Dancing With the Stars is not what the show was intended to find and develop.

I don't want rank amateurs on American Idol or else we'll get the Community Theatre rejects you see on America's Got Talent, but this is unethical. This girl clearly has no interest in what it would mean to win American Idol, she's simply trying to find a shortcut to fame and fortune.

Who cares? American Idol has worn me out. It's become boring and fake. It's just like Dancing with the Stars, talent doesn't win, public votes win. People get together and vote, vote, and vote, over and over again. 1 vote per person please. Do you hear me networks.

Hey, if she makes it through to the "finalists"...no one vote for her. She's had her chance....most of the other contestants haven't.....they are looking for their chance. Joanna should take her talent to another forum...I think American Idol should be for unfound talent on any forum....she alreay has her foot in the door...many others don't....

1.  Her voice is amazing.

2.  She no longer has a record deal.  She was never promoted properly, therefore, she did not "MAKE IT" in the music industry.

3.  Until the American Idol audition, 99% of the people in this world never heard of her. 

4.  She meets the criteria for auditioning for American Idol - plain and simple.  The people on here saying American Idol is for undiscovered talent or whatever I guess are making up their own rules for this show.

5.  She has the drive and determination not to give up.  With all the setbacks, she is still pursuing her dream.  That is something we should all admire.

sunnydayz--under your criteria, then Ms. Pacitti would've already become a star and would therefore have no need for American Idol. She has a good voice, not a great one, and it doesn't make her sound any different than any of the other Mariah/Whitney/Celine/Beyonce wannabes. And the point is she DID have a major label record deal, whether she didn't have management with proper cojones to force the label to promote her or the label simply couldn't get their act together to promote her is not an excuse for the fact she recorded a CD for A&M, couldn't make it sell, and therefore lost her shot. And if I got the impression from her that she was wanting to win American Idol because music is her life and her soul and she knows music is her only destiny and that's how bad she wants it instead of possibly looking for her face on TV to get some modeling contract or to get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, then I'd support her.

Sorry, I will be giving my support to the musicians who want a shot, not a potential future Miss January because she can't get her name in lights any other way.

Well than lets start talking about all of the others on idol as well..... There are many... Lets not just trash one single person, and let this person take the fall for the many others who are slipping through the cracks to make there dream come true..... then we can talk about what the show is about....

Meli-771751 - I guess you know first hand how one "makes" it in the music industry. I know I don't but I can make some speculations based on what I see. Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spear and the like certainly didn't make it based on their vocals - Its all about having a platform to get your music out there. If it weren't for a reality TV show - Star Search- Micky Mouse Club - dating "Justin Timberlake" - we would have have never heard of these girls either. There are so many artists on MTV/VH1 that no way compare to Joanna's talent - Yet Joanna and many others like her out there have true talent and because of no fault of their own - they just haven't made it. Why should she give up her dream? Example - Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas - was signed and dropped from her record label when she was with Wild Orchid - Was given another shot years later with Black Eyed Peas and look at her now - the fact Justin Timberlake was also involved certainly was a plus - again a platform - the right timing, the right song, the right promotion. Certainly you have to realize there is a lot more to "making" it then just a GREAT voice - Let's hope this time things fall into place for her - I know I love what I've seen so far.

I personally think that American Idol should be a show for NEW artists and not for somebody who already tried to have a career.
